In the army discussion below troop types are described in the format:
Light Foot (Brittle -2): 1 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +3, move 5 MU
Which means (for this example) that the base troop type to be used in Fantasy Triumph is Light Foot, and they should have the Brittle battle card. Brittle reduces the cost by 2 points. The base cost of Light Foot is 3 pts, so with Brittle each stand costs 1 point. The numbers that follow are the combat factors and movement as specified in Fantasy Triumph (as modified by the battle cards).
First and (to many) greatest of the giant robot defenders of Earth was Sky Sentinel; Defender X is a similar design (functions the same in game terms).
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Cataphract (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Massive +1, Away +1/2): 8 pts each
+5/+5, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 4 MU
Sky Sentinel
Defender X
Legionnaire
Legionnaire is a modification of giant robot design to include significant ranged attack ability.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Pavise (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Massive +1, Away +1/2, Fast +1/2): 8.5 pts each
+4/+4, missile attack +3, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 4 MU
Nova ESR (ESR stands for Emergency Situation Response) is an attempt to build a lighter, faster giant robot, more capable of effective maneuver against enemy behemoth kaiju.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Elite Cavalry (Deadly +2, Massive +1, Away +1/2, Slow -1/2): 7 pts each
+4/+4, missile defense +3, move 5 MU
Nova ESR
Laser Knight
Laser Knight is a giant robot design that was built without the enormous jumpjets that characterize Defender X and Sky Sentinel.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Cataphract (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Massive +1): 7.5 pts each
+5/+5, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 4 MU
These are super-fast ground-attack aircraft.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Javelin Cavalry (Flying Fast +2): 6 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +1, move 12 MU
A different type of aircraft, more of an air superiority type. These figures are harder to get ahold of on ebay, as they are only associated with the Legionnaire kaiju figure in the original random packs as released.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Horsebow (Flying Fast +2): 6 pts each
+2/+3, missile defense +1, move 12 MU
Slower air vehicles, flying closer to the ground, with more of an infantry support role.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Battle Taxi (Flying Slow +1): 4 pts each
+2/+2, missile defense +2, move 6 MU
The mainstay of the GUARD army. Supertanks, firing the most powerful weapons known to man.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Shooter (no battle cards): 4 pts each
+2/+4, missile attack +3, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
The superscientists of GUARD, aware that their efforts are the only thing holding back Alien Invasions, the Subterrans, Giant Insects, and Horrors from Eldritch Dimensions, have outdone themselves here. This "death ray" is capable of obliterating almost anything. Not very mobile, though, and takes a while to recharge. Hope we live that long.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Artillery (Marksman +1): 4 pts each
+2/+2, missile attack +5, missile defense +3, move 2 MU, costs +1 command point to move
Super Grav Tanks are great, but can be vulnerable to fast enemy mounted troops and behemoths. So the scientists of GUARD have developed Shield Tanks that generate a forcefield giving a group of Grav Tanks significant protection while they fight for truth, justice, and the fate of humanity.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Pavise (no battle cards): 4 pts each
+3/+3, missile attack +3, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
For modeling purposes, these are two of the standard Ion Cannon tanks flanking the special Shield3 tank that comes with the Legionnaire figure in the original MonPoc release. And then for the forcefield, just use an appropriately-sized half of a "make your own ornament" christmas craft ball.
Without power armor, supertanks, or blasters, commandos and special forces units can be quite effective, but they are still flesh and blood fighting in a world of alien invasions and giant lizards and giant robots. You've seen the movies, you know what happens to these guys.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Light Foot (Brittle -2): 1 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +3, move 5 MU
I like the look of special forces / commando stands best when they have a group of 6mm figures, a transport vehicle, and a light support AFV (as shown).
None of these figures are MonPoc prepaints; they are modern warfare 6mm figures.
The best thing about being infantry in a MonPoc battle is that you are too small and disperse to be easy to squish. Sure, it isn't hard to drive you off, and if you're fighting in the open you're likely to get slaughtered, but fighting in terrain or urban areas it's really hard for enemy forces to destroy your unit cohesion.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Rabble (Slow -1/2): 1.5 pts each
+2/+1, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
Infantry bases look best with a scattered group of 6mm infantry figures, and a single vehicle (their transport).
None of these figures are MonPoc prepaints; they are modern warfare 6mm figures.
Modern tanks are slower, heavier, and more fragile than high-tech Grav Tanks. Even firing depleted uranium rounds, their weapons aren't as good either. But modern military forces still have a lot of these, and being short-lived doesn't mean they can't fight.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Bow Levy (Ranged Attack +1): 3 pts each.
+2/+3, missile attack +2, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
Tank bases look best with two tanks on them. These are 6mm figures.
None of these figures are MonPoc prepaints; they are modern warfare 6mm figures.
Modern missile launch systems are very fragile, but can deliver an enormous punch. They only have a limited supply of missiles, though.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Bow Levy (Brittle -1, Limited Spellblast (physical) +3): 4 pts each.
+2/+3, spellblast +5, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
Missile System bases look best with two missile launchers on them. These are 6mm figures.
None of these figures are MonPoc prepaints; they are modern warfare 6mm figures.
Fantasy Triumph hero stands for the GUARD forces can be represented with the Mobile Command Center, the Fuel Truck, the Repair Vehicle, or the AWACS version of the Gladius air vehicle. Or by creating a little diorama on a hero base of 6mm figures.
Some possibilities for battle cards for heroes would be:
Mobile Command Center (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2): 3.5 pts each
or (Limited Spellblast (physical) +3): 4 pts each. Representing a spotter or forward air controller associated with off-map artillery batteries or orbital bombardment.
Fuel Truck (Fast +1/2): 1.5 pts each.
Repair Vehicle (Hearten +1): 2 pts each.
Repair Vehicle
Gladius2 Air Vehicle
Fuel Truck
This giant robot design was created in response to attacks by the Cthulian eldritch horrors. It incorporates a powerful ranged attack, plus jumpjets to assist in getting it to a useful place in the battle.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
War Wagon (Deadly +2, Massive +0, Away +1/2, Unlimited Spellblast (Physical) +4.5): 10 pts each
+4/+5, spellblast +5, missile attack +3, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 2 MU, +1 command point to move
This model (in the original MonPoc game) is an Ultra version of an UberCorp kaiju. It is very easy to repaint in the GUARD colors, which is what I've done here. The same model (and stand, and powers) is used by UberCorp forces.
