The Shadow Sun defends earth, like GUARD and UberCorp, by building giant robots to fight enemy kaiju. Their methods, however, are quite distinct. Rather than very strong robots who fight enemy kaiju toe-to-toe, their robots are fast, stealthy, and mobile, fighting battles of maneuver and deception rather than frontal attack. Further, rather than relying on high-tech tanks and other combat vehicles for smaller units, they have developed medium-sized robot suits the size of tanks (called Shinobi) that are much more effective in difficult terrain than vehicles are.
In the army discussion below troop types are described in the format:
Light Foot (Brittle -2): 1 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +3, move 5 MU
Which means (for this example) that the base troop type to be used in Fantasy Triumph is Light Foot, and they should have the Brittle battle card. Brittle reduces the cost by 2 points. The base cost of Light Foot is 3 pts, so with Brittle each stand costs 1 point. The numbers that follow are the combat factors and movement as specified in Fantasy Triumph (as modified by the battle cards).
The main focus of the Shadow Sun's giant Zor robot program is speed, maneuverability, and flexibility.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Javelin Cavalry (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Massive +1): 7.5 pts each
+4/+3, missile defense +2 (with Armored), move 8 MU
Zor-Maxim
Zor-Magna
Zor-Macros
Zor-Raiden
Zor-Voltis
The main focus of the Shadow Sun's giant Zor robot program is speed, maneuverability, and flexibility. Zor-Voltis also has the ability to throw bolts of lightning from his hand weapons.
The best representation for these kaiju in Fantasy Triumph is:
Javelin Cavalry (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Massive +1, Ranged Attack): 8.5 pts each
+4/+3, missile attack +2, missile defense +2 (with Armored), move 8 MU
These are Shadow Sun's best fast ground-attack aircraft.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Javelin Cavalry (Flying Fast +2): 6 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +1, move 12 MU
Shadow Sun's best air superiority fighter.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Horsebow (Flying Fast +2): 6 pts each
+2/+3, missile defense +1, move 12 MU
These semi-mobile shield generators are very effective in blocking enemy troops and holding a static line while more mobile Shadow Sun forces attack the flanks of an enemy force.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Spear (Slow -1/2): 3.5 pts each
+4/+4, missile defense +3, move 2 MU
Humanoid robots, 20 feet tall -- they'd be considered giant robots if not for the Vor giant robots three times their height. C-type Shinobi are built for ranged combat.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Shooter (no battle cards): 4 pts each
+2/+4, missile attack +3, missile defense +3, move 3 MU
Built like the C-type Shinobi, the S-type Shinobi are designed for close combat.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Raider (no battle cards): 4 pts each
+4/+2,missile defense +3, move 4 MU
Shinobi type robots cannot completely replace vehicles in the Shadow Sun force array. Interceptors and Katana light tanks also have a role, and can keep up with the Vor kaiju.
The best representation for these forces in Fantasy Triumph is:
Javelin Cavalry (no battle cards): 4 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +2, move 8 MU
Fantasy Triumph hero stands for the Shadow Sun forces can be represented with the three special figures that come with Zor-Macros: Zor-Decius, Zor-Fractus, and Zor-Quanta. Alternatively, there are "Shadow" versions of C-type and S-type Shinobi that serve well as Hero stands, or the Sun Drone model.
Some possibilities for battle cards for heroes would be:
Zor-Decius , or the Shadow C-type Shinobi: (Marksman +1): 2 pts each
Zor-Quanta (Hearten +1): 2 pts each
Zor-Fractus (Prowess +1): 2 pts each
Sun Drone (Fast +1/2): 1.5 pts each
(Left to Right): Zor-Fractus, Zor-Quanta, and Zor-Decius
Sun Drone
Shadow C-type Shinobi
