TA 1448 - early Fourth Age

Umbar and the coastal cities south of it were originally enclaves established by Numenor, initially for trading and later as centers of rulership.  Umbar was conquered by Gondor in TA 933, and the coastline was pacified by TA 1050.  Umbar was then part of Gondor until TA 1448 when the descendants of Castamir the Usurper fled from Pelargir to Umbar with the bulk of Gondor’s fleet.  From then until TA 1810 the Corsairs raided the coast of Gondor.

In TA 1810 King Telumehtar of Gondor recaptured Umbar and ended the line of Castamir.  Umbar was soon thereafter lost again, this time to Harad, and continued as a source of slavers and raiders on Gondor thereafter.

Umbar submitted to King Elessar of Gondor at some time before his death in FA 120, and was reunited with Gondor thereafter.  Very likely this occurred before the death of King Eomer of Rohan in FA 63, as Eomer fought many campaigns with King Elessar, spreading the might of Gondor, and Umbar would likely be one of the earliest places on which they would focus.  So a speculative conquest date no later than FA 30 or so would seem reasonable.
