This army is completely made up of prepainted plastic miniatures. Many of them are D&D Miniatures (DDM); some are Mage Knight figures. It isn't presented as an example of my work -- all I did is cut them off their original bases and glue them down to their Triumph bases. I hope it will be useful as an example of how to make up an army for Fantasy Triumph.
Yuan-Ti Archers. The main troop type of this army (because I had a lot of them).
In Fantasy Triumph these are rated as:
Shooters (no battle cards): 4 pts each
D&D Minis. I think it is called a Yuan-Ti Malison.
This guy is massive.
In Fantasy Triumph these are rated as:
Behemoth (Deadly +2, Away +1/2, Armored +1/2, Massive +0): 7 pts each
I usually take him with Delayed Entry -2 as well, to represent the fact that he is a summoned diety-like figure. Even more fun with Unreliable -1, so not only does he appear unpredictably, but he disappears unpredictably as well. Those two bring the cost down to 4 pts. For even more weirdness, add Brittle -2 so its magical power is broken by the enemy winning even one close combat against it.
D&D Miniature. Called a Yuan-Ti Anathema, I believe. I like Abomination better as a name.
Yuan-Ti Hooded Cobra warriors.
In Fantasy Triumph these are rated as:
Raider (Prowess +1): 5 pts each
These guys look super dangerous, which is why they get Prowess. They're probably poisonous too.
The figures are from Mage Knight. Normally MK figures are painted really ugly. These look fine, though.
Yuan-Ti Hooded Cobra warriors.
In Fantasy Triumph these are rated as:
Elite Foot (Prowess +1): 5 pts each
They are based on open-order foot bases, but that's because of the size of the figures. I like them best as Elite Foot because they must be really hard to fight against, and Prowess because they've got a zillion weapons. Prowess won't help the stand if they lose the fight, which means doesn't help them defensively, which makes sense. No Armored either -- shooting these guys up seems like a very good tactical decision.
The figures are from Mage Knight. These aren't as nice as the Hooded Assassins, but still acceptable.
Not everything can be the best! These guys are the cheap troops in the Yuan-Ti army. They also appear in the Swamp Lords army.
In Fantasy Triumph these are rated as:
Light Foot (Slow -1/2): 2.5 pts each
DDM figs. Slow because their little biped legs clearly aren't the fastest method of propulsion.
This is a placeholder for troops I haven't been able to find figures for yet.
The idea is simple -- a Serpent People army should be able to have some stands that are just ... snakes. Lots and lots of snakes.
The problem is finding figures. Stuff I find online is either too big or too small, or take too much space on the figure base. In the long run the figures are going to be available through 3D printing, where I can control the size when I print them. But I haven't got a solution yet, so no pictures (and no stands for the army).
In Fantasy Triumph these will be rated as:
Rabble (no battle cards): 2 pts each
If you've got a cool army with a theme, it is double extra cool if you've got a die that fits the theme, for playing that army.
Here it is! The right die for playing an army based on snakes.
Some Heroes for the Snakeman army.
In addition to the normal hero powers, battle cards for Magic Resistance might be cool for the Sorceress, and maybe Ranged Attack her as well.
This is the camp / stronghold for my Yuan-Ti / Serpent Peeps army. They needed a properly snaked-up terrain piece. Some searching on the internet (Etsy, I think) brought me to this thing, which is 3D printed and very nice. Came unpainted, so I did the painting for it (prime gray, drybrush white, then do some detailing) but otherwise it's just the way it came.
Now my Serpent People can fight my Lizardmen without negotiating first to see who gets the Jungle Pyramid (my earlier solution for a Serpent People camp). Life is good.
I was thinking about having the altar covered with blood, like with Aztec altars on their special days, but I decided that mostly Yuan-Ti sacrifices get fed to giant serpents rather than have their hearts ripped out. Less mess that way.
