SA 1 - FA 100 and later
This list represents armies of the far east of Middle Earth, where Sauron established himself early, and to which he retreated during the Watchful Peace.
Tolkien uses the term Easterling to refer to most denizens that reside east of Gondor, including the Variags of Khand, Balchoth, people around and beyond the Sea of Rhun, and others. This army list refers only to the most civilized farthest eastern cultures, living beyond the Orocarni (Mountains of the East), with whom Gondor never had much contact until they participated in the end of the War of the Ring.
