SA 1 - FA 1
This list represents forces of Lothlorien under Galadriel and Celeborn, and North Mirkwood under Thranduil. Both realms were mostly made up of Sylvan Elves, with some remaining Noldor (High Elven) forces as fought in the Last Alliance wars against Sauron.
The Woodland Realm was established in Greenwood the Great in SA 750, when Oropher and a handful of Sindar moved there. He became king of the Sylvan Elves already living in the Greenwood. Oropher’s original capital was Amon Lanc in south Greenwood. After Sauron’s return from the downfall of Numenor in SA 3319 the Sylvan Elves retreated north to the Emyn Duir (Black Mountains) in the middle of Greenwood, abandoning Amon Lanc. The Sylvan Elves suffered badly in the war of the Last Alliance against Sauron; Oropher was slain in battle in SA 3430 and succeeded by his son Thranduil. When Sauron managed to reembody himself after his defeat in that war, sometime between TA 1000 and 1100, he took Amon Lanc and became the Necromancer, and it was renamed Dol Guldur. The Shadow fell upon Greenwood the Great, spreading from Dol Guldur, causing it to be renamed Mirkwood; Thranduil moved the Woodland Realm northeast beyond the Emyn Duir, settling in the Northeast corner of Mirkwood and building an underground stronghold there in memory of Doriath.
Amdir was the first King of the Galadhrim; like Oropher he was a Sindar and became ruler of the Sindar elves who lived in Lorinand. He was slain in the War of the Last Alliance and succeeded by his son Amroth; when Moria fell to evil after TA 1981 he and Nimrodel went to go west and seek Valinor. Galadriel and Celeborn had originally lived in Eregion, but moved to Lorien before the construction of the Rings of Power, after which Galadriel was given the ring Nenya. Celeborn and Galadriel succeeded Amroth as the Lord and Lady of the Galadhrim after his departure.
