The Crab-Men of the Brachyuran Kingdom are strong, armored, and technologically sophisticated.
The bulk of these figures were a single group purchase from a vendor at Historicon. No self-respecting gamer could look at a model of a giant cyborg lobster with an enormous energy cannon mounted on its thorax and a crab-man driving it from a control cupola on its back, without wanting that model, and an army that uses it.
The second major part of this army came from the twelfth faction of Monsterpocalypse figures, the Tritons. The Tritons were one of the last factions to be released, and soon after their release the figure production line closed and no further figures came out. While the kaiju (huge monsters) were quite nice (a giant lobster humanoid, a giant shark, a kraken, and a giant angler fish) the rank and file figures were very limited and fell into two categories: Captain Nemo style submarines, and tank-sized crabs. Neither of them appeared in sufficient numbers to build up an army based around those figures alone, and to my personal opinion the two parts did not mix well -- they didn't feel like they had any reason to work together, or any shared goals or the like. Which meant that I never built a MonPoc army of Tritons. Didn't work for me.
But then I found the crab-man driving a giant cyborg lobster (and its associated other figures) and everything was solved. The MonPoc crabs and kaiju mixed artistically with the other crustaceans of the Historicon 3D printed army. And the results you see here.
The last component was some smaller crabs (and other sea life) of soft plastic from an Etsy vendor (Sugarblushstudio).
The whole army is based on water basing -- clear acrylic bases cut to size, then glued to Plastruct "Stormy Water". When the glue dries (three or four days, because there is very little air leakage) the plastruct is trimmed to size.
This sucker is large -- the only reason I can pretend that it fits on a 80mm square base (as pictured) is because nobody is likely to want to be behind it in play (Behemoths that fall back destroy any friends they meet).
The best representation for this enormous cyber-lobster in Fantasy Triumph is:
Behemoth (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2, Unlimited Spellblast (Physical) +4.5): 11 pts each
+6/+5, missile attack +5 (Spellblast), missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 4 MU, cost an extra command point to move
Crustaceor is a giant lobster.
The best representation for this enormous cyber-lobster in Fantasy Triumph is:
Behemoth (Deadly +2, Armored +1/2): 6.5 pts each
+6/+5, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 4 MU, cost an extra command point to move
This figure is originally from the Triton faction of the 2010 Monsterpocalypse game. He's perfect for the Crustacean army, and serves as the paradigm for painting them as well.
Scared of giant grabs? Fair enough. Scared of giant crab-lobster hybrids with cybernetic grinding saws on their claws? I think everyone is.
The best representation for these vicious cyborg lobstercrabs in Fantasy Triumph is:
Knight (Armored +1/2, Slow -1/2): 4 pts each
+3/+4, missile defense +2 (with Armored), move 4 MU
These are the rank and file crab troops of the Crustaceans.
The best representation for these in Fantasy Triumph is:
Heavy Foot (Armored +1/2): 3.5 pts each
+4/+3, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 3 MU
The figures on the left are from the 2010 Monsterpocalypse release, pre-painted plastics. The figures on the right are from the 2020ish release of the same game (with a different version number, but I don't play it so I don't care). They're nice, but a little thinner; I like the 2008 plastics better.
Okay, what could be cooler than that? Crabmen with blasters? The best representation for these in Fantasy Triumph is:
Elite Foot (Ranged Attack +1, Armored +1/2): 5.5 pts each
+5/+3, missile attack +2, missile defense +3 (with Armored), move 3 MU
Standard blueclaw crabs, fighting for the Crustacean Kingdom
The best representation for these in Fantasy Triumph is:
Light Foot (no battle cards): 3 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +3, move 5 MU
These figures are prepainted soft plastic toys. I got them from an Etsy retailer, Sugarblushstudio.
Cuttlefish are closely related to squids. They are very mobile in kelp forests and quite adept at scooting backward to escape enemy attacks.
The best representation for these in Fantasy Triumph is:
Rabble (no battle cards): 2 pts each
+2/+1, missile defense +2, move 4 MU
These figures are prepainted soft plastic toys. I got them from an Etsy retailer, Sugarblushstudio.
Hermit crabs are not tremendously dangerous to the opponent, but quantity has a quality of its own -- and a Crustacean army often has a lot of these suckers.
The best representation for these in Fantasy Triumph is:
Horde (no battle cards): 2 pts each
+3/+2, missile defense +2, move 3 MU
These figures are prepainted soft plastic toys. I got them from an Etsy retailer, Sugarblushstudio.
Not sure what I'm going to use this guy for, but he looks cool. The miniature is one of the 2010 Monsterpocalypse release.

Figures are just glued to the surface using the same E6000 glue used to affix the plastruct to the acrylic; it dries clear.
